1st Alien and WIP - Need your help please

Hi everyone, Here is my first Alien, although I think it's a Baby Troll in his pajamas. He has come out reasonably o.k. I have made a lolly pop for him to hold, but I haven't baked it yet.

Also, I would like any advise anyone can give me in reference to my Troll. I hope you will be able to see the crack in him. The main one is on his forehead, however, he has several on his body. Most of the cracks are hair line fractures on the body, near his eyes.

I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I have a temperature gauge and I am baking everything according to the manufactures instructions.

If anyone can enlighten me on what is happening, It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by. xxx

Cute little guy you have there Tinypearl! I'm not sure why you are getting cracks.

Are the cracks all from the same type/batch of clay? Maybe experiment by trying another brand.

Thanks Brian, you might be right about the clay. I bought this clay on ebay and it was a bit hard, I was advised to add a little oil to it when putting it through the pasta machine.

Thanks for dropping by Brian it is all was appreciated. xxx

Pearl,

What brand of clay was it? I would say the same thing. If you buy it on line and it's not soft send it back. I have the best luck with Premo, flesh color or translucent. If it's not soft to begin with it will break or be very brittle once baked! Thank you for all your kind comments on my blog BTW! I look forward to your visits...
Bless you,
Misty

Your sculpt is adorable! If you used foil in the head that may have caused a crack because sometimes air tries to escape. Just a thought.
Thank you for following my blog. :o)

besitos ascension

Thank you for your help. I think it is because I bought the sculpty clay from on-line and it cured a little bit on the way through the post. I was told to put a little bit of oil in it and blend it. But I think I should have thrown it out. I still have some of that clay, but I will keep using it and just keep learning to how to sculpt in general. Thanks again. xxx
